It's been an ongoing challenge for students to know the career options available to them and how to pursue a selected career path. It is equally challenging for counselors to guide each student down the appropriate path based on their skills and interests. To ease the pressure, both counselors and students alike will enjoy the benefits of the new
comprehensive Career-Technical Pathways website.
Nesha Savage, a counselor at City College, explains, "The site is very informative and easy to navigate. I appreciate sites that are user friendly, especially when it is frequented by students."
Being simple to use, students are more likely to utilize it as a resource to explore, build, or expand a career at just one glance. It’s a one stop resource center where counselors and students can instantly find information on career options and their pathways; learn which skills and courses within the San Diego Community College District are needed for those careers; and gain insight on the technical programs offered throughout the District. This exciting new tool for the colleges also provides students and counselors a roadmap with various routes to enter the community college system, decide on a career pathway, and find a career with high labor demand and high wages or transfer to a four-year institution.
